Given frk’s extensive experience designing educational spaces, Iowa State University selected frk to help with several renovation projects across campus. Each of these projects had unique goals, including visioning for future development of departmental space, updating classrooms to meet educational teaching standards, and creating environments that serve the University’s current needs.

  • College of Design: Update to the existing Kocimiski Auditorium with new furniture, ADA seating and access, and finishes
  • Carver Hall: Renovation of the main lecture hall, Room 101, including improvements to accessibility, refreshing finishes and furniture, and correcting existing acoustical and lighting issues.
  • College of Veterinary Medicine: Conceptual Design, Room 2532 – Visuals on how to transform insufficient lecture halls and underutilized areas into collaborative environments for learning and community engagement.
  • Agronomy Hall: Renovation of main lecture hall including new finishes, furnishings, improved ADA accommodations, and updated technology.

Design Insight

Working across campus and with several different Colleges, frk engaged with staff, educators, and ISU Facilities Planning and Management to create a solution for each project’s unique needs.
