Iowa Guard Readiness Center

Estherville, Iowa

The Estherville Multi-Use Community Center is the result of a joint effort between the City, school district, community college and Iowa National Guard. Situated directly adjacent to the community college campus, this facility is comprised of an Iowa National Guard Armory and a regional wellness center. Each facet of the structure was funded separately by the various interest groups. This necessitated that each be designed with the ability to be constructed and operated as a stand-alone building, while maintaining an integrated whole building concept of both function and aesthetic once complete. The National Guard Armory functions as a training center with instructional as well as athletic space. The design allows each area of the facility to function under its own hours of operation to allow maximum flexibility of use.
