The Jefferson Elementary School features a tall daylit circulation spine that stretches from the south end of the building to the north, and serves to connect the two main entrances and parking areas. The classroom areas are located east of this spine in three, two-story wings designed to preserve valuable site area and help reduce the overall scale of the building. These wings revolve around a two-story Media Center with abundant natural light. West of the main entry is the music, gym and administration areas, as well as an open commons area with clerestory windows. The floor plan allows the school to secure the entire classroom area while still allowing access to the media center, gym and commons for after hours use. A popular 20’ high climbing wall was designed into the interior of the gym.
