Many churches lack adequate space for people to informally gather before and after services and classes. A large skylit concourse was provided to encourage the social gathering for friendships to develop and grow. This concourse is also the very important connection between the sanctuary and the classrooms. This proximity of the concourse to the classrooms encourages families to attend classes before rushing out the door after service.
A truly multipurpose Family Life Center was provided with an adjacent kitchen. While some churches have "multipurpose" rooms, their flexibility is very limited to a few activities. Shepherd of the Valley's room can adjust from a dining space to a gymnasium with a basketball court. This change can occur without the feeling of dining in a gymnasium. Remodeling of the offices and nursery were also provided.
