The goal of the Crestview Elementary project was to update the 30+ year old facility to the same standard as the new addition. The newly created spaces on the multilevel site included a media center, gymnasium, music rooms, and ten classrooms.

The media center serves 575 students from kindergarten through sixth grade. As the heart of the school, it provides easy access for approximately 30 teachers and their classes. Located on the main corridor, the center is of equal distance from the existing and new classroom wings. Such proximity extends usage to before and after the school day.

The design of the media center involves a circular, open space that is defined by round columns and a low bulkhead to accomodate large groups. A semicircular circulation desk, a diamond shaped space for casual reading, and a semicircular courtyard outside add visual appeal while defining activity areas.
