To meet the demands that accompany rapid change, the middle school was constructed as a potential "swing" school, which can absorb grades five through eight, grades six through nine, or grades six through eight. Growth was anticipated in the original design, however, the student population has increased by over 100 percent.
The addition completed in 1992 features a new auditorium and community library. They play host to a variety of school and community programs. The main entry canopy extends out to the drive guiding visitors to the lobby, warmly lit by southern light. The addition continues the design elements brought forth in the original to bring light into crucial interior spaces.
