Frevert-Ramsey-Kobes was commissioned to do an addition to the Warren County Courthouse on the town square in Indianola, Iowa. This addition is small in footprint, but it is three stories tall and creates a new focal point and entry for the facility.

The $1.4 million project was completed in 1989 and houses a new reception area and elevator lobby for the building on the first floor. Also on the first floor is a sallyport and garage entrance used by the Police and Sheriff's Office. The second floor includes an enhanced central lobby area and spaces for clerical and offices for the Sherriff, Deputy, and Criminal Investigation Divisions. The third floor consists of addition and renovations to the cells, dayrooms, and holding rooms for the inmates of the facility. Third floor also includes a squad room for the Police Force and areas for the dispatch and jail administrator. Another feature of the third floor cell area is a totally fenced in outdoor exercise area on the roof for inmates.

Materials are used that are similar to the existing building, including yellowish brown colored bricks and light beige stone infill panels. The design doesn't copy the original addition, but instead takes details, masses, and forms from it and arranges them in a slightly different hierarchy. The intent is not to copy but to compliment and enhance the existing facility.
